About Jason C. Brown & Be Like Bamboo
Hi, I'm Jason C. Brown, I'm a physical educator & teacher that helps motivated but overwhelmed Jiu-Jiteiros (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu players) and other martial artist create movement practices & athletic development programs that are simple, strong & sustainable so they can get the most out their bodies and their training on and off the mat.
Welcome to my personal blog called "Be Like Bamboo." Be Like Bamboo is my metaphor for becoming strong, flexible, resilient, useful and highly adaptable.
I'm pretty fascinated with human movement, nature and BJJ(Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.) I'm also the father of three vibrant boys that keep me and my lovely wife Jeniffer very busy.
Teaching movement, play and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is my focus and I spend my days helping other Jiu-Jiteiros (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu players) create performance rituals and refine their Jiu-Jitsu and movement practice.
And although I do work with professional MMA & BJJ athletes what I enjoy most is working with the amateur, the recreationist, the person that has to juggle 3 kids, a long work-day and still get on the mat one or times per week.
I have one weekly video update on Tuesday. I'm a very active reader and I'd love to share with you the books that inspire me to become a better coach, mover and Jiu-Jiteiro. I also post many how-to and conceptual videos on athletic development for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo.
Sometimes I write about stuff that does not fit neatly into one of those categories. I also occasionally write about the resources I've been discovering.
I've been working professionally in the fitness/athletic development field since 1999 and training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 1996. I'd love to share with you some insights, tips and tricks I've learned along my professional journey to help you move better and play more.
I like to keep this place pretty informal but you can read my more professional bio here: Jason C. Brown | Bio.
My goal is create insightful, relevant content and resources that you can put to work in your own training immediately.
