Combat Sport Specific Push-up?

February 4, 2009 by admin

This is one of my favorite push-up variations for combat athletes.  The hip action is similar to a sit through in wrestling and standing up in base as it’s known in Brasilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Try it out and let me know how it goes:

P.S. If you’re interested in combat sport specific conditioning we’re having a sale over at Combat Sports Conditioning. Come introduce yourself to other successful combat athletes and coaches! Click here to check it out!

These are both AWESOME variations! :D I love the cross-crawl pattern and you obviously know it’s a worthwhile tool to add to your arsenal! Keep it up - you guys have great stuff!

Genius! A new movement for my WOD armamentarium…..I did ring push-ups yesterday til’ my chest exploded…I said screw the pain & I just pushed out a few of these. The CONTRALATERAL PUSH-UP hits all the categories; Strength building, core tension, balance, metabolic elevator….Nice work Jason…really nice work! JD

    Hey Johnny D,

You’re so correct. These get everything. That’s exactly why they’re one of my favorites.
