Anthony “The Animal” Gatt- 5am 6 x 3
January 7, 2009 by admin
I love working with this guy. Today I got together with Anthony “The Animal” Gatt, a professional heavyweight boxer from Philadelphia PA.
Anthony has a fight quickly approaching on Jan. 17th and we’re finishing up his 6- week conditioning cycle.
This workout took place at 5am on a very cold and slick Philadelphia morning. Working with motivated combat athletes is by far one of my most favorite things in life. They make that 4:30am buzzer worth it.
Anthony performed 6 x 3 minute rounds of:
30 seconds of Power Ropes
Dumbbell Snatches- 30 seconds right/30 seconds left
Jumping Lunges- 30 seconds
Plate Lifts-30 seconds right/30 seconds left

Dude, that’s nice!
Jason,
Wow, this is an intense workout! Just one three-minute round
looks menacing. But when you consider the strength and stamina a
fighter needs, there is no better way to train. As my clients are mostly
moms and working women, I have moved away from training at this
level of intensity. This is refreshing and inspiring work Jason.
Thanks for sharing!
Way to go Anthony! Good luck on your upcoming fight.

Good combo of speed power and intensity, but that plate lift was sick widit. Keep it up man, and it’s good to see another trainer know the benefits of the battling ropes.
awesome job just awesome good luck on the 17th jan anthony
Impressive!! Best of luck Ant. See you next week.
Great circuit for metabolic power. Keep up the intensity.
Jason, love the workout, man… That guy IS an “animal!” Also, love the digs, too - hardcore gyms are the best. All the best to your client, Anthony.
Thanks for writing everyone! Anthony is a pleasure to work with and I’m sure he’ll try even harder knowing you guys are watching.
That is great. I’m trying this at home, how can I modify the rope? What exercise can I replace it with?
Thanks
Juan,
What training tools do yuo have available?
awesome workout…ive been working with lots of different age groups lately.. and one thing i realise is that everyone can train like an athlete, i just need to scale the workouts to fit the clients needs..one of my clients recently came back from a hiking trip and she remarked how great she felt AFTER the hike..what’s even more impressive is that she is 50yrs old..is exercising for the first time in her life and all we did was KB swings for 6weeks (starting with a 2lb hand weight) building her hip and total power and conditioning.
Thanks for the great vids JB!! Keep it up.

Juan, I don’t think you can really modify the rope a whole lot, it’s pretty unique, if it isn’t an option you’d have to pick a very taxing full body movement.
damn, this dude is a beast, i would hate to tangle w/him, he’d knock my head off!
I haven’t seen a boxer built like this since rocky IV
you’re a beast of a Coach JCB!
Anthony is truely a beast. You’re quite the stellar coach yourself -Z-. Our guys can’t match your guys strength wise.
