I’m Done with Kettlebell Training…Forever!
October 31, 2009
In Kettlebell Training I thought I had found one of, if not the best training tool for all around conditioning and fitness.
That is…until found this. If I remember correctly, the nuns in grade school caught me doing this more than once I don’t think that they ever forgave !
I was thinking about picking one of these bad boys up but I probably average about 2 hours of that movement per day now as it is. I wouldn’t want to create an overuse injury or anything.
There’s even a women’s model: This one is EVEN BETTER:
Now, on a more serious note, if you want to check out a system that works now, has been working for over 5 years and will continue to work until the cows come check this out: Kettlebells 4 Sport 7 Fitness.

Local Muscular Endurance …Legs
October 8, 2009
As part of our on-going series on building local muscular endurance for combat sports conditioning we bring back Jen Sinkler, senior editor at Experience Life Magazine and professional Rugby player. Jen insists that Rugby is a combat sport so I agreed to highlighting some of her workouts here.
This workout can be brutal and make you quite sore for some time after your training session.
This workouts usually consists of 4 rounds :
- 24 Squats
- 24 Jump Squats
- 24 Lunges( we mix up the variations…forward, reverse, lateral)
- 24 Jumping Lunges
I recommend starting with 12 reps of every exercises performed for 1-2 rounds. As your conditioning and tolerance improves work towards the full workout.
Training for Warriors Seminar…Martin Rooney
October 5, 2009
My good friend and mentor Martin Rooney will be holding a Training for Warriors seminar on October 24th in Saco Maine.
Trust me! I have no clue where Saco Maine is but Martin is one of the most knowledgeable and giving coaches that specializes in combat sport and martial arts conditioning.
Martin is the stength and conditioning coach for Team Renzo Gracie and is responsible for getting people like Roger and Rolles Gracie into fighting shape. That’s quite an impressive resume.

More Muscular Endurance
October 5, 2009
Last week I took you through one of Lamont Lister’s local muscular endurance sets.
This week we highlight Jen Sinkler, a professional Rugby player and senior editor of Experience Life Magazine.
Jen insisted that I highlight her amongst the combat athletes that we train simply because she crushes many of them during our training sessions.
This workout is another local muscular endurance training session with a focus on the pulling musculature.
4 exercises…30 seconds at each exercises. Back and bis are usually mosh at the end of this.
- Pull-ups
- Ring Rows or TRX Rows
- Slam Ball
- Band Snap-downs or skiers.
