Combat Athlete? This is a Great Partner Training Drill

February 5, 2009 by admin

If you’re a combat athlete and you’re looking for a tough partner training exercise than Monkey Boys should be included within your combat sports conditioning toolbox. Monkey Boys work on most essential areas of your combat sports conditioning plan at once.

They teach you how to intergrate your lower and upper body as well as your core. Your grip is working overtime. Not just your hands but the gripping ability of you arms, thighs and lower-legs.

Your head and neck will even get into the action as you work your way around your training partner.

The partner that’s standing has to work as well to balance and stabilize an awkward external resistence. This is exactly the type of resistance you’ll face on the mat or in the ring.

Set a timer and see who can go the longest or see how many revolutions each partner can get within a certain time frame.

CBJJ World Jiu-Jitsu Champion of New Generation BJJ in Philadelphia does a great job of performing and explaining the Monkey Boy.

dude, remember when they did this in the ultimate fighter and the dude did a few hundred reps I think? His partner had some low back pain for days he was done!

    It was craziness!
